How does the Posh Dog Knee Brace work for a torn CCL/ACL?

The Posh Dog Knee Brace stabilizes your dog's knee joint from the outside, giving the torn ligament support while it heals. It's custom-made for your dog's exact measurements — no casting needed. Our licensed vet techs guide you through measuring over a video call, then do a one-on-one virtual fitting when the brace arrives.

Can my dog avoid surgery with a Posh Dog Knee Brace?

Yes — many dogs recover without surgery using a custom brace plus rest and rehab. We've helped over 14,000 dogs in 15 years, and lots of them never needed the operating room. Every dog is different, so we offer a free consultation with our lead vet tech to talk through your dog's specific injury.

How long will my dog need to wear the brace?

Most dogs wear the brace for 6 to 9 months while the knee stabilizes and strengthens. Your dog wears it during active hours and takes it off to rest. Our team stays in touch through the whole recovery and will tell you when it's time to wean off.

Do I need a cast of my dog's leg to order?

No — that's what makes Posh different. There's no messy casting process. A licensed veterinary technician walks you through simple measurements on a video call, and we build the brace from those. After it arrives, you get a virtual fitting appointment to make sure placement is perfect.

Benefits of a Custom Posh Dog knee Brace

Pain Relief! It can be painful to have a knee injury or arthritis, our brace takes that pressure off the joint and meniscus
Stabilization of the joint
Increases the chance of full recovery post-op
Provides an option for active dogs without having to put them in a cage all day
Increases your dog’s activity levels, as the knee is fully weight bearing with our brace on.
Helps with weight loss, as our patients are able to go on walks right away
Prevents further injury! Especially for large breed patients with high risk of developing a second knee injury
Non-invasive-works perfect with conservative management plan

Published veterinary research backs this up: a 2016 study in Veterinary Evidence (Carr et al.) measured ten dogs with CCL ruptures on a pressure-sensing walkway and found custom stifle orthotics significantly improved weight bearing in the injured leg.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My 10 year old Newfoundland wore the brace for 7 months (on our outside walks) and was healed. She had torn her CCL and the surgeon wanted to put her under anesthesia and surgically repair her knee. I said no ……… and we tried the brace. The brace worked and we never needed surgery!!! What a lifesaver this brace was! Thanks Posh Brace:)

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Stella is doing fantastic in her recovery with her Posh dog knee brace. We are doing aqua walks, regular walks, red light therapy, massage, and lots of supplements and I’m happy to say she is doing incredible and she feels so confident with her brace on. In March, we went from barely walking/limping and non-weight bearing to over 70% weight bearing and no limping on her injured leg in a matter of 2.5 months with the use of the Posh Brace. We are so hopeful for the future. This is a long road to recovery but this brace has prevented so many potential setbacks she may have occurred. Also, thank you to the Posh team for being here and answering any of my questions and always being there for me when I needed extra information. 5/5 stars. ⭐️

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We are new brace owners as of this week. Just completed our fitting call. Posh has made the experience less stressful with communication and calls. It feels that I am prepared for the process instead of guessing and I appreciate that very much

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We are in the first few weeks of using a Posh brace for Max’s partial tear of his Achilles tendon. Our vet had heard of Posh and we are so happy that we called them! The technical support was excellent (thank you, Jenny). The fitting session was simple and the instructions were detailed and thorough. Max took to the brace on his first brief walk after the fitting. We will post again on Max’s progress, but thank you Posh for helping our fur baby!
